I looked at these two this morning, as Gracie so lovingly gave Mabel a place to snuggle. Mabel’s favorite place to rest her head is on Gracie. As I sat there looking at the two of them this morning I thought about where we were with Gracie a few weeks ago not knowing if she would even pull through. Then Mabel jumped into action and needed Gracie. It was evident as I watched these two together that Mabel was not ready for Gracie to leave. None of us were. Many have asked how Mabel has been so easy to train. You are looking at it. Gracie has been a great teacher. She was persistent even in helping Mabel with potty training, and would wait at the door every 15 minutes to get her out there. It was amazing to watch.
I think I have learned more lessons from my dogs than people. Gracie found her renewed second wind in finding her purpose. She realized she had a new purpose now, to help Mabel and take her under her wing. And that she did. It gave her hope, it gave her a new zest for life in her senior years. Her purpose has changed now. She has had so many throughout her years. Her full name is Gracie Anne, Lisa’s golden jewel of grace. She lives up to that name every day. Today she reminded me of how important hope and purpose truly are. And to walk out that purpose like every day is your last….with passion, hope, and giving it your all.
I talk about serving, stepping out, and seeing miracles a lot, and I smiled today because even my dogs “get it”. They do that every day of their life and the fact that Gracie is still here, still serving….is a miracle. When she could not even stand to take a step, she tried anyway, and that determination brought us to this day with them together.
Savor the moments, they are fleeting, and you never get them back. Don’t let the noise of life distract you from those treasures. #momentsmatter #notthings #savorthemall
