We took our daily prayer walk today, and spent time praying for the families of those who are fighting for our country. We prayed for those who have lost loved ones while fighting for our freedom, and every child and family member affected. So much to be thankful for, so many to be thankful for.
As I prayed outloud with every step, I heard in the distance… airplanes. I stopped and looked above me and in beautiful formation planes were flying to honor our soldiers. They flew over several times. It hit me like a freight train as I looked up at those planes, and the tears started pouring down my face. I stopped with Mabel and saluted. As I looked around, all my neighbors were too. One was wiping tears as fast as they came down her face. She has a son fighting overseas. It’s a raw place for her right now. Very raw. I have friends who have lost their children, parents, loved ones fighting so we could be standing out there today, looking up at the sky, in freedom.
For some reason today has hit me harder than any other Memorial Day. Coming from what this past year has brought in my life, my vision is just so much more clear to so many things. Today it is clearer than ever how thankful I am for my country, those fighting for it, and for my freedom. I am thankful to God for every breath I take, because of those who made it possible.
God Bless America
