Let’s talk about friends. And about healing broken trust.
There are those people who stand with you during both the good and bad days. They love you deeply, warts and all. They have a prayer on their lips for you at a moment’s notice, and they rejoice and celebrate when those prayers are answered. Each step of the way, their authenticity shines through, and with so much change and uncertainty in our world today, these are the people we need surrounding us.
Sometimes, it’s easier to keep our relationships shallow. Life is busy and investing in people can take time and energy. But the friends who have helped bring healing are the ones who aren’t afraid to go deep, even when it’s inconvenient or uncomfortable. They show up, and then make it clear they are sticking around.
This season has made me cherish my authentic friendships more than ever. God brought clarity around relationships these past few years, leading me toward those
precious souls who speak life over my family and me. They are the real deal, and have stayed close during illness, hurdles and the challenges that have come our way. These friends are there at the drop of a hat. I want to follow their lead and be that kind of friend also. Together, we are bringing healing to one another.
When trust is broken in a relationship, authenticity binds those wounds. Hope and clarity are restored with each passing day, and soon we can stand back up and walk again, hanging on to one another with strength and purpose.
Hold these friends close and cherish the authenticity and prayers lifted by those who know you best. As one of those dear friends said to me recently, “We need to lift each other up more than ever in this season.” She is right. Some of the greatest gifts I’ve received are support, prayers, encouragement, and love from a friend. Those are the best gifts to receive and to give.
