But God.

But God”…….

I have whispered those words more times than I can count this last year.

The news of losing dear friends to unexpected illness. “but God”……

Praying for those who are dear to me who are walking through some impossible situations…..”but God”….

Heartbreaking goodbyes……”but God”….

Standing for healing of some precious family members….”but God”….

Betrayal and broken trust….”but God”…

At times the heaviness palpable, but just two words always lift the heavy weight. “But God”. Those two words have stayed on my lips and in my spirit 24/7 this past year and will continue in 2024.  As I studied the phrase, I loved what I found. The phrase “but God “occurs in scripture 41 times. Those words a reminder that our hope is in the One who guides our every step. In the life of Noah, “but God” In the life of Sarah, Abraham, Moses, Joseph, “but God” made all the difference.

Often we forget the ‘but God” moments in our own lives. Those times when but by His own hand He sustained, provided, protected, enabled, encouraged, clarified and made the path straight. I have added all of the “but God” moments to my treasure list and my gratitude journal. You find treasure if you are looking for it. And it’s amazing all of the “but God” treasures there are when you take time to look for each one.

When your hope needs a boost, Take some time and reflect on the times with God himself intervened, interrupted, inspired and interjected. You will be amazed at how many times what you thought were inconveniences and heartaches were “But God” moments when He was really paving the way. He makes rough places smooth, and a way in the wilderness. You see the mountain. He is already on the other side with the answer. You will get there. Hang onto hope. But God….will get you there.

But God…..
