There’s something about a dandelion.
Most people look at it and see a weed… something to pull up, something that doesn’t belong.
But sit down on a sidewalk with your grandson, and suddenly it becomes something else.
A moment.
A memory.
A little piece of wonder.
I was sitting there with him, holding that dandelion, and he was so focused on it. Like it was the most important thing in the world. And in that moment… it kind of was.
We leaned in and blew.
And just like that, those tiny little seeds scattered everywhere… carried by a wind we couldn’t see.
And I thought… isn’t that just like God?
He takes the small things.
The ordinary moments.
The things that don’t look like much…
And He uses them to carry something beautiful farther than we could ever imagine.
Because those seeds don’t just disappear.
They land somewhere.
They grow somewhere.
Just like the love we give.
The kindness we offer.
The moments we show up for someone.
It may feel small to us…
but it never is.
God is always doing more with it than we can see.
Sitting there with my grandson, I also noticed something else…
He didn’t overthink it.
He didn’t question if it would “work.”
He just trusted the moment.
He took a breath… and let go.
There’s something in that for me.
Maybe for you too.
Because we spend so much time trying to control outcomes… wondering if what we’re doing really matters…
And maybe it’s simpler than that.
Maybe we’re just called to show up,
love well,
and trust God with where it lands.
Because what you see is what you are looking for…
And in that moment, I didn’t see a weed.
I saw a reminder.
That the smallest things…
in God’s hands…
can carry hope farther than we will ever know.
And maybe today…
All He’s asking us to do
is take a breath…
and let it go.
