I walked into the waiting room with my hands clenched tight and realized, I had actually forgotten to breathe. Oh yes, breathe Lisa, breathe!
It had been one of those mornings full of unexpecteds, and I felt like I was stuck inside a pinball machine, bouncing from one hard thing to the next without catching a break.
We’ve all had those days, haven’t we? Or weeks. Or entire seasons. If I had to describe mine, it would look like a giant wad of scribbles, a tangled mess of worries, emotions, and “how in the world am I going to get through this?”
And then, as I sat in that waiting room, I noticed a photo. A child holding a big scribbled-up mess and handing it into God’s hand. I laughed out
loud. There they are. My scribbles! And I knew right then it was my job to hand them over (which clearly I had not been doing, considering I was holding my breath).
So I took some deep breaths, unclenched my hands, and gave Him the scribbles. And you know what? I walked into my appointment lighter, reminding myself once again I could have that scribble-free day, if I chose to hand it over.
Some days it’s hard to release the wad of worries. But I’ve learned this: God is the best untangler. He doesn’t need me to fix the mess before I bring it, He just needs me to hand it over so He can begin His work.
So here’s to a tangle-free day, my friend. May your scribbles find their way into His hands today too. A scribble-free Saturday sounds quite nice!
