This morning did not start with birds chirping or angels singing.
It started with error messages. Frozen screens. A printer giving me the silent treatment.
I had deadlines. I had a plan.
And nothing—absolutely nothing—was cooperating.
As the frustration grew, so did the tears. I stood there, coffee now cold, muttering,
“Why can’t this just work?!”
Finally, the computer guy showed up to assess the situation.
Turns out, my computer wasn’t broken. The printer wasn’t either.
There was simply… no connection.
It was a Wi-Fi problem.
Everything was in place—but nothing was talking.
Once he worked his computer miracles and restored the connection, my computer lit up, the printer started happily spitting out pages, and all was right in my little tech world again.
He looked at me and said, “You’re good to go!”
Music. To. My. Ears.
And that’s when it hit me.
Actually, that’s when God hit me (gently) with this:
“This is what it’s like when you try to run without Me.”
Ouch.
It was one of those both funny and holy moments.
I knew He wasn’t scolding me—He was inviting me. Inviting me to reconnect.
Because here’s the truth…
I’d been rushing through my morning, full of deadlines, ministry needs, people to help—and somewhere in the hurry, I had unplugged.
Not on purpose.
But in the flurry, I missed the Father.
In the hustle, I skipped the still.
And just like my computer, I was trying to function without being connected to the Source.
We all do it, don’t we?
We hustle for good things—even kingdom things—but somewhere along the way, we forget our strength doesn’t come from productivity… it comes from presence.
His presence.
When we’re connected to Him, things may not always go as planned—but they go with peace.
With grace.
With power that isn’t ours.
When we’re disconnected?
Even the easy things feel heavy.
The printer won’t print.
The heart won’t rest.
And we wonder why everything feels harder than it should.
I think sometimes God allows the Wi-Fi of our lives to go out—just long enough to get our attention. Not to frustrate us, but to gently whisper:
“You don’t have to do this alone. Plug back in.”
So today, I’m choosing connection over control.
Stillness over scrambling.
Presence over performance.
Because no matter what I try to do for Him, what He really wants… is me.
Plugged in. Tuned in. Fully present.
And friend—He wants you too. Not your perfect to-do list or flawless morning. Just your heart, connected and present.
So take a breath.
Unplug from the frenzy.
Plug back into the One who holds it all together.
(And reheat that coffee. You’ve earned it.)
