I recently heard a pastor share about God’s favor, and I seriously listened to it probably 25 times. Yes, 25. At this point I could probably preach part of it myself. It was THAT good.
I’ve been studying God’s favor a lot lately, and I think sometimes we get to a place where we feel like we have done everything we know to do. We’ve made the calls, made the connections, shown up, tried, prayed, tried again…and maybe attended enough networking events to last us until 2037.
I’ve talked to several people this week who feel like they are just hitting a wall. One of my friends said, “I don’t know how many more networking groups I can go to or how many more phone calls I can make.” She’s exhausted. And I get it.
But something I heard keeps coming back to me:
Don’t just pray to be recommended. Live recommendable.
WHEW. That’ll preach.
Because God’s favor is a script flipper.
Sometimes we are so busy trying to figure out how to get into the room that we forget God can put our NAME in the room before we ever get there.
Joseph was sitting in prison while his name was being talked about in a palace. Think about that. He wasn’t trying to figure out how to get a meeting with Pharaoh. He didn’t have LinkedIn. He wasn’t handing out business cards. Someone remembered him and basically said, “I know somebody.”
Sometimes that is all it takes.
So yes, keep showing up. Keep working hard. Keep making the calls. But remember that how we live and how we treat people matters. Keep your
word. Do what you say you are going to do. Treat people well. Serve when nobody is watching. Do the small things well.
Live recommendable.
Because you never know who might be sitting in a room you don’t have access to yet and say, “I know somebody.”
And that somebody might be YOU.
So if you feel like you are hitting a wall right now, don’t assume God isn’t working just because you can’t see what He is doing. You don’t have to kick down every door. Sometimes we need to quit exhausting ourselves trying to manufacture what God is perfectly capable of orchestrating.
Favor can flip a script you couldn’t change on your own.
You may be staring at a closed door while God is already speaking your name on the other side of it.
