The Script Flipper

Sep 3, 2026 | Blog

I was talking with someone today about how fast life can change.

Literally, in an instant. One phone call. One diagnosis. One conversation. One yes. One no. One door closing. One door opening that you never even knew was there. And just like that, the script flips.

I’ve lived enough life to know that sometimes those flips break your heart. And sometimes they become the very thing you prayed for.

But here’s what I know. God is the greatest script flipper of all.We like to think we’re holding the pen. We have the plan, the timeline, and a pretty good idea of how we think things should turn out. Then life happens. I’ve had chapters I never would have chosen. Endings I didn’t understand. Detours that made absolutely no sense at the time. But looking back, I can see God in places where I couldn’t see Him while I was standing there.A closed door that redirected me.A disappointment that ended up protecting me from something I couldn’t see.An ending that made room for a beginning I never saw coming.

That’s faith, isn’t it?

Trusting the Author when we haven’t read the next page.

Maybe you’re sitting in a chapter right now that you wish you could skip. Maybe something changed overnight. Or maybe you’ve decided your story is pretty much written. Don’t be so sure. God can do a lot with one page. And sometimes He doesn’t flip the circumstances right away. Sometimes He flips us. He changes our heart. Gives us courage we didn’t know we had. Sends the right people at just the right time. Gives us enough light to take one more step.

So don’t mistake a hard chapter for the ending.

There are still pages you haven’t read. People you haven’t met. Prayers you haven’t seen answered. And moments ahead that may someday make you look back through tears and say, “Now I understand.”

Life can change in an instant. So can hope.

Never count God out of a story He’s still writing.

He’s pretty amazing at flipping the script.
