The other day, while out on a walk with Moose, I paused for a moment at a playground and watched a little girl standing at the top of a slide. Her daddy stood below, arms outstretched, wearing the kind of smile that speaks love without saying a single word.
“Jump!” he called, his eyes never leaving hers.
And oh, the joy on her face. That kind of joy that can’t be faked. She didn’t hesitate. No fear. No doubt. Just a squeal of delight as she flung herself down the slide, arms lifted high and laughter trailing behind her—because she knew he’d catch her.
She didn’t stop to ask how. She didn’t need a backup plan. She just believed.
And I stood there with tears in my eyes, thinking… what if we lived like that? What if we had that kind of faith?
The kind that lets go of control.
The kind that quiets the noise of overthinking.
The kind that says, “God, I don’t know how this ends, but I trust You with the in-between.”
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.”
— Proverbs 3:5
Faith isn’t about knowing all the answers. It’s about the courage to jump—arms wide open—believing that God is already at the bottom, waiting to catch us.
So maybe today… it’s time to stop gripping the sides of the slide.
Let go.
Laugh a little.
And trust that you’re not falling…
You’re being caught. ❤️
