The Sweetest Song in Aisle 7

Somewhere between the cheese and the cartons of milk, I heard it—a tiny voice singing, “Jesus loves me, this I know.”
I had to find the source.
And there she was: Megan.
A little girl with Down syndrome, skipping down the aisle like it was just her and Jesus in the whole wide world.

Her mom smiled and shared their story—how Megan had faced more hospital stays and surgeries than most people could imagine.
But one thing never changed: her song.
Even after surgery, Megan would wake up singing.

“She’s our reminder,” her mom said.
“God sings over us… and Megan sings it back.”

With a grin that could light up the whole aisle, Megan looked at me and said,
“Jesus thinks my singing is beautiful!”
And off she went, still belting it out for her very best Friend…right past the yogurt section.

That fifteen-minute encounter left me standing there like a puddle of melted butter—heart full, eyes leaking a bit.
It reminded me:
No matter what we face, there’s always a song.
Pain doesn’t silence it—it just makes it richer.

Later that night, I played one of my mom’s favorite songs from our chemo playlist—Hear My Song, Lord—and sang right through the tears.
Because even when life is hard, the music is still there.
Whether it’s a single shaky note or a full, glorious symphony—sing it.
He hears you.
He delights in you.
Just ask Megan. 🎶❤️

“He will rejoice over you with singing.” —Zephaniah 3:17
