Turning 62: What I Have Learned

May 28, 2026 | Blog

So grateful for all the birthday wishes everyone! You all are the best!

I remember when my mom turned 62 and I thought she was basically an ancient relic. Well… I guess that officially makes me the ancient relic now because 62 has arrived!
Which is funny because in my head I’m still about 37, but my joints and reading glasses tell a different story.

Here’s what I know at 62:
Protect your peace.
Cherish your people.
Drink the coffee on the porch.
Pet the dog longer.
Take the trip.
Laugh until you snort. It’s healing.
Cherish your tribe
And don’t waste precious energy on things that won’t matter five years from now.

I’ve learned that discernment is holy.
Rest is productive.
And some of the best healing happens in quiet places with God.
Also, white space on your calendar is not laziness.
It’s survival.

This year taught me a lot about resilience, second winds, deeper faith, and how faithful God is in both the mountains and the valleys.

And honestly? I think getting older is just becoming more and more yourself.
Softer.
Wiser.
More grateful.
Less worried about nonsense.
And more aware that every single day is a gift.

So here’s to 62.
To grace.
To healing.
To joy anyway.
And to sitting on the swing with coffee and a dog beside you while thanking God for one more beautiful day.

If I could go back in time to when my Mom turned 62, knowing what I know now as I face 62 myself, I’d definitely change the term from “ancient relic” to “vintage with experience!

Thank you everyone for making this a wonderful and blessed day!
