It was around 1:00 p.m. when I looked down… and there it was.
Two shoes.
Two completely different slip-on shoes.
Same idea, totally different styles. One had a little height, the other didn’t. No wonder I’d been walking a little lopsided and thinking, Why does everything feel just slightly off today?
Mystery solved. It wasn’t my hip.
It was my feet.
I was delivering a care box, heading up to someone’s front door when I caught a glimpse—and froze.
I just stood there thinking, Seriously? Again?
Too rushed. Too distracted. Too focused on the going to notice what I was actually wearing.
Slipped them on and ran out the door like it was an Olympic event.
I almost brushed it off with a laugh (and I did laugh), but something about it made me stop and think.
Because honestly? That mismatched feeling wasn’t just about my shoes.
It felt a lot like life.
Ever have a day like that?
Where things just don’t quite match up?
Where you’re smiling on the outside, but carrying a quiet heaviness inside?
Where you’re doing your best, but still feel a little “off”?
Yep. Me too.
But here’s the truth I held onto as I knocked on that door:
Even on the uneven days, it’s still a walk worth taking.
I may not have matched, but I was moving.
I showed up.
I was doing what I was called to do—even if my fashion sense didn’t get the memo.
So if today feels out of sync—if you’re tired, overwhelmed, or wondering if you’re doing it “right”—take a deep breath.
Give yourself grace.
And keep walking.
Because it’s not about perfect steps.
It’s about faithful ones.
Even in two different shoes.
