There is something about Easter weekend that makes the world slow down, even if just for a moment. It feels like everything takes a breath.
Not because life is not still moving. It is. The noise is still there. The schedules, the worries, the things we are carrying do not just disappear. But something shifts.
It is more than a holiday. It is a holy pause.
Every year I find myself coming back to this place, standing at the foot of the cross, trying to take in what it really means.
Good Friday.
It is hard to even say those words together sometimes because there was nothing easy about that day. The pain, the betrayal, the silence as Jesus hung there.
A love that bled. A love that stayed. A love that could have walked away but did not.
He was there between two thieves, treated like a criminal, carrying the weight of every broken thing. Every sin, every shame, every sorrow. Yours. Mine. All of it.
And He stayed.
Not because He had to, but because He chose to. That kind of love changes you when you really let it in.
And then comes Saturday. The quiet. The in between. The space where nothing makes sense yet. Where prayers feel unanswered and it looks like the story might be over.
I think a lot of us live there more than we realize. In the waiting. In the wondering. In the places where we are holding our breath, hoping something will change.
This year feels different for me. God is doing something in my heart. He is gently asking me to loosen my grip on the things I have been holding so
tightly. The plans, the expectations, the what ifs, the fears I do not always say out loud. And to trust Him with them. Not just with my words, but with my heart.
I am learning that resurrection does not just happen on Easter morning. It happens in us. In the quiet surrender. In the moment we release what we were never meant to carry alone.
Sometimes the greatest act of faith is not asking for more. It is thanking Him right in the middle of what we do not understand. It is sitting in the stillness and whispering, Thank You, Jesus, even here.
Because even here, He is working.
Even in the silence.
Even in the waiting.
Even when it feels like nothing is happening at all.
God is always up to something.
So this weekend, I am sitting in it all. The weight of Good Friday. The quiet of Saturday. The ache and the hope.
And I am holding onto this truth with everything in me.
Sunday is coming.
