There it is. Every morning when I sit on my little chair in my prayer closet, Mabel snuggled next to me, it sits right in front of me. My vision board. It is kind of like a journal, but one made of pictures. It is very big and full of life and color. It is kind of like a big collage of prayers, answers, dreams, goals, all in pictures. This morning as I looked at that board. I realized some of those pictures, I had placed on the board a very long time ago. They were just a dream and a prayer in my heart. And then I realized God showed up, and that dream came to fruition. But what I realized even more was that the most important part of this board were the “In Between” parts. How many times had I sat in my prayer chair crying out to God to get me through something! Waiting can be painful. It can be frustrating. It can be lonely.
When there is something you long for that is not yet within your grasp, it’s tempting to go down every scenario and get caught up in worry and fear.
We have all been there. God? Hello? Are you there? But today more than ever I realized He was always there, especially in the quiet moments. Those quiet “in between” times were when God was working the most. Growing my faith, expanding my trust, walking through the “broken” stronger than ever, learning to hear God’s voice in a deeper way. All in the “in between.” As I looked at each picture on the board today, I smiled, and wiped a few tears. So many of these prayers now answered. And most not in the way I thought they would be, but better! God is good at that. The answers were so beautiful but what I learned “in between” was even more miraculous. Truth was revealed in the “in between”. Clarity and vision clearer than ever. Authenticity in friendships revealed. Purpose redefined in the “in between”. New seasons birthed “in between”.
The longer I live the more I realize it truly is the journey that is the miracle. What you learn on your way to your miracle is really the most important part of it all. You appreciate the answer in an even greater way.
Are you in between right now? Asking God why?
Jesus knows “in between” better than anyone. He understands those questions that come from the raw places in our lives. Awaiting his arrest and crucifixion, Jesus sweat drops of blood. He knows anguish and He knows heartbreak. And He knows yours, even better than you know yourself!
You are not forgotten. If you feel like you’re “in between” has you hanging on to the rope with one hand, about to let go, God’s hand is underneath to catch you. Be held. Be carried. Be loved. Rest. Breathe. What you are learning and becoming in that place, you simply could not learn anywhere else. The answer will be more beautiful than you imagine. And more clear!
He’s got you. Even in your “In Between”.
