Today was not Instagram worthy, and that’s okay. In fact, most of my days aren’t picture perfect, especially those rainy Mondays when everything seems “blah.” On those days, the mundane and unpredictable can descend on me at the same time. I’m hit with dread about what might lie ahead, with an undercurrent of hopelessness about the pain, sorrow, and dark places so many of us are walking through. Those feelings are real and raw.
I have lost several dear friends to illness this month. It’s been heartbreaking as I realize what they would have given for just one more “mundane moment” in the midst of their suffering. It helps me remember that no moment is without value. We are not guaranteed tomorrow, or even the next hour, but we have this moment. Our present is a gift from God, so what will we do with it?
God is in those everyday moments, especially in the mundane days that feel gray and gloomy. There is meaning and purpose in every second of your life, and sometimes the biggest miracles are found when we embrace that “blah” feeling. If you look for those miracles, you will find them.
Life is a gift, so let’s untie those ribbons and watch the mundane transform into the miraculous!
