Lisa's Books

Write it all down.

The day Lisa Bain’s mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, she said these words to her daughter.

Lisa took her mother’s advice and picked up her pen at the beginning of a frightening health crisis. She discovered that God was faithful to give her words that were not only a comfort to her, but many others. She continued writing through both dark and bright times, realizing God had something to reveal at every turn in the road.

Lisa writes authentically about Faith Walking, Hard Seasons, Joy Jumps, Dog Days, a Cancer Journey, Grateful Moments, Comfort Food, Family Blessings, and Love Lessons. Perspective is the key. We can choose to either learn from the pain, or let it defeat us. Feel the rain, or just get wet. In these writings, Lisa invites us into her life, introducing us to a whole new way of thinking about how we walk through our days, and our decades.

Mabel and the Big Paws

Mabel and the Big Paws is Lisa's first book for children, featuring her beloved therapy pets.

In this story, Mabel has finished her therapy pet training, but will she be as good as her big sister Mavis? She has some big paw prints to fill, and Mabel needs some encouragement from a few furry friends.

A perfect gift for dog lovers and proponents of pet therapy, Mabel and the Big Paws will hopefully be the first of many books for children.

Feel the Rain: Stories of Divine Detours and Dancing In the Storms is a compilation of stories from over a decade of writing. At the start of a health crisis journey, Lisa’s mom told her to “Write it all down,” so she did. From Joy Jumps and Comfort Food to Dog Days and Grateful Moments, this book challenges us to believe that God has something to reveal at every turn in the road. Lisa shares with readers what we can discover if we’re willing to turn our face to the clouds and feel the rain.

In It's Better Out Here, Lisa challenges us to look around and ask if we are living inside a dark, narrow box, broken and too scared to step out. We may be comfortable in our box, but what if we're missing a life filled with freedom and purpose? Can embracing brokenness move us toward healing? By sharing her story of loss, illness, and moving past unhealthy relationships, Lisa leads readers on a journey out of the broken places and into wholeness. She walks the road with us, and along the path provides eight steps to transformation. When we experience vulnerability, authenticity, serving, rest, self-compassion, gratitude, forgiveness and community, we begin a life filled with miracles and treasures. This is a book to read, share, and hold close as you walk out of brokenness and into a new way of living.
