A dream come true!

I’m a big 4Him fan, and Andy Chrisman was my favorite! The playlist I walk to every morning includes songs from almost all the 4Him albums, including their 1993 Christmas album, The Season of Love. The seventh song on the album, “In Your Care,” carried me through such a dark season. In 1993, I was trying to navigate being a new single mom with two babies, my own health issues, and starting over. I was facing so many unknowns and felt a constant sense of loneliness. How, Lord? Why? Where are you?

It was my first holiday season as a single mom when 4Him released their Christmas album. I played it nonstop, closing my eyes and soaking in every word of “In Your Care.” There was something about the song that pulled me through. The words resonated in my soul and reminded me I was not alone at Christmas, or ever. I was in the care of a Savior who gave me a safe harbor of rest. I sang the chorus with Andy over and over.

“You’ll be in my care, safely harbored there.
My heavenly host will follow you close,
But always remember, please be aware,
That you will be in my care.”

I listened to that song this week, and it took me back to that tough season in my life when God showed up to carry me through. He used that season as one piece of the puzzle that created the complete picture of where I am today.

And God did something even more amazing by allowing me to work with the singer who sang “In Your Care,” Andy Chrisman. Working with him to prepare for the Grady Nichols Christmas Show has been a joy and an answer to prayer. I pinch myself sometimes to make sure this is really happening! The show benefits the ministry Mom began years ago, when she wanted to help people walk through those broken places in life. That nonprofit is Lisa Bain Ministries, which reminds me that God brings about miracles that are “above and beyond what we can imagine or dream.” (Ephesians 3:20). That’s the way He works.

God has been continually working and putting together the puzzle pieces “in His care,” even when it seems the darkest. But God saw that dark season in my life in the light of eternity. He knew that one day Andy would sing that song at a concert benefitting a ministry Mom began, that helps others walk through broken places. In God’s care, it comes full circle.

At the seventh annual Grady Nichols Christmas Show, Andy will sing the seventh song on my favorite 4Him album. This time, I will listen to that song with those two babies of mine, all grown up and with children of their own. My kids remember this song and the season, but they also remember how all of it brought us to the place we are in now.

For those of you who are dreading the holidays because you are in a tough season, know that you are seen and understood. In 1993, I remember looking at my calendar on November 1st and wondering how I could possibly make it through. I want to encourage you to remember that you are in His care. And this is your invitation to the Grady Nichols Christmas Show on December 5 at 7:30 p.m. at the Mabee Center.

This is not just a show, but a way to begin the holiday season with a sense of joy, peace and healing. It will be a night you won’t forget. Some of the most talented musicians you’ll ever hear will perform—Grady Nichols, Andy Chrisman, Kelly Ford, the band, and the singers. We are praying that you will feel the heart and healing of Christmas as soon as you walk through the doors. It will be a night when music, miracles, and meaning come together. I hope to see you there!
