The photography of Krutik Thakur brings tears to my eyes. This brilliant 20-year-old man from India has a passion for creating sunset photos that communicate a feeling of hope and beauty. If you’ve heard me speak, you know about Mom’s “sunset puzzle”. When I look at these photos, I see what Mom was talking about when she worked her sunset puzzle. The dark pieces of the puzzle are the most important. She reminded me that with the sun as a backdrop, the story is in the shading. The darkness is the picture. So often, we miss its importance because we forget that stories often unfold in darkness. This is where we experience preparation, growth, and lessons that will take us to the next season. The dark pieces of the puzzle remind us that the sun will shine again. As you experience the shading—the dark pieces of your life, know that God is putting your puzzle together perfectly. Without dark, you can’t see light, and when it appears and you’re in the next season, you will shine even brighter!
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” John 1:5
